Students in Environmental Science actively engage in research activities. Research can come in a variety of forms, but it often involves working with a faculty member or independently on testing a hypothesis or seeking additional information.

Why Research?

Participating in research activities- whether with a faculty member or on your own, can benefit you in many ways:

• Active participation in research prepares undergraduates for professional careers and graduate school.
• Students and faculty have presented their findings at regional and national scientific meetings such as the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry, American Chemical Society, Society of Toxicology, American Geophysical Union, European Geosciences Union, and American Society of Limnology and Oceanography.
• Students routinely publish their work with faculty in top impact journals.
• Environmental Science faculty members and students often collaborate with each other, and with other faculty members affiliated with the Center for Reservoir and Aquatic Systems Research and the Institute of Biomedical Studies.
• Research has also involved collaboration with researchers at other universities, government agencies, and industry
