Bioassays
Bioassays are typically conducted to measure the effects of a substance on a living organism and are essential in the development of new drugs and in monitoring environmental pollutants. Researchers in our department are working towards the development and validation of bioassays to identify specific chemical compounds that can produce human health or ecological effects. That research includes evaluations of toxicity in effluents, bioassay-directed chemical analysis in waters, and carcinogenesis bioassays.
