Evolutionary Toxicology
Researchers in Environmental Science are utilizing genetic and genomic approaches to understand how contaminants are altering wildlife populations. Dr. Matson’s group is focused on the development/acquisition of chemical resistance in populations that have been chronically exposed to a variety of contaminants, with specific focus on molecular mechanisms and evolutionary processes. This work is currently focused on fish populations in Galveston Bay, Texas, and bird populations around the Great Lakes.
