Baylor Environmental Science Graduate Students Intern at Oak Ridge National Laboratory

September 1, 2023

Environmental Science Ph.D. students Micah Bowman, Jordan Jatko, and Mark Lueders from Dr. Ryan McManamay’s group spent 10-weeks interning at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in East Tennessee. These students worked under the guidance of a previous seminar speaker Dr. Teresa Mathews. Dr. Mathews is the Group Leader for the Biodiversity and Ecosystem Health Group (BEHG). Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) was established in 1943 as part of the Manhattan Project, which you can read the history here. Today, ORNL participates in cutting-edge research and development in atomic energy, materials, medicine, and computing. Micah, Jordan, and Mark worked with BEHG to model biodiversity and stream health in the recovery of aquatic systems from historical burdens of the Manhattan Project.
